Northwest Indiana Business Magazine has named Purdue Polytechnic South Bend as the best university for a technology degree in the Greater South Bend / Michiana area. Magazine subscribers participated in the magazine’s 2018 survey in February, and results were announced April 9.

“It’s a survey that gives our readers a voice and the opportunity to say ‘you’re doing an amazing job, keep up the good work,’” said Troy Linker, publisher of Northwest Indiana Business Magazine.

Purdue Polytechnic South Bend is one of the 10 Indiana locations of the Purdue Polytechnic Institute, one of Purdue University’s 10 academic colleges. The South Bend location offers bachelor’s degrees in engineering technology, electrical engineering technology, industrial engineering technology, mechanical engineering technology, robotics engineering technology, and organizational leadership. Associate’s degree and certificate programs are also available.

“Our faculty and staff are passionate about the work they do, providing personal attention to students and guiding them toward their goals,” said Mike Sanders, director of Purdue Polytechnic South Bend. “The readers of Northwest Indiana Business Magazine see how our graduates have benefitted from a Purdue University education here in South Bend. We are honored to receive this recognition.”

“In South Bend, we serve both traditional college-aged students and adult learners who work at many companies across Michiana,” said Andy Schaffer, Purdue Polytechnic associate dean for statewide programs. “Having a hands-on college education with a real-world approach available close to home is valuable both to our graduates and area businesses. We are delighted that Northwest Indiana Business Magazine’s Michiana readers recognize Purdue’s unique value in the community.”

Starting this fall, Purdue Polytechnic South Bend will expand beyond the Indiana University South Bend campus into additional classroom and laboratory space in the newly renovated Studebaker facility downtown.

“Over the years, support for our programs has been fantastic, and it’s facilitating our growth,” Sanders said. “Being recognized as the best university for a technology degree in Michiana shows the importance of continuing our service to the community. We hope to earn this recognition again and again.”
